Biomedical Engineering (M.Sc.)

Biomedical engineering; It is an interdisciplinary field that uses the knowledge and technology in the fields of medicine and engineering to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by producing solutions to medical, biological and physiological problems. Biomedical engineering, which includes sub-fields such as electrical-electronics, medicine, molecular biology and genetics, materials science, physics, chemistry, biology, robotics, software, signal processing, image processing, is a field that provides interdisciplinary education and training.

The main purpose of the Master’s Program in Biomedical Engineering is to train students who are specialized in certain areas of biomedical engineering, who can take part in academic life, who can respond to the needs of the medical and health system, and who can make and manage projects. In this direction, the aim is to offer a quality higher education opportunity in biomedical engineering to students who are considering a career in biomedical engineering. Apart from Biomedical Engineering graduates, the program also accepts students from many fields that can adapt to this field.

The language of instruction of the program is Turkish. In order to receive a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Master’s Program with Thesis, as per the “Samsun University Postgraduate Education Regulations”, at least eight courses and specialization courses, including seminars, provided that not less than 21 credits and 120 ECTS, and also not exceeding 30 ECTS in a semester. A master’s thesis is required. Students who successfully complete their courses and successfully defend their master’s thesis in an appropriate subject in front of a selected jury and thus successfully complete the requirements of the Biomedical Engineering Department Master’s Program with thesis, will receive a Master of Science (MS) degree in Biomedical Engineering. Biomedical engineers who have this degree will have the opportunity to work in industrial organizations, academic life and government institutions, as well as participate in research and development activities. In addition to these opportunities, they may also be able to take on engineering positions in a medical device or pharmaceutical company, clinical engineering positions in hospitals, or in sales or R&D at a biotechnology company.
